A passenger coaster drove off an ice road and crashed into a steep ravine in Azad Kashmir’s Haveli area, killing at least five passengers and injuring three others, authorities said on Sunday.

The truck was driving from Kahuta to Rawalpindi when it lost control at Mahmood Gali owing to treacherous road conditions induced by snow and fog. According to authorities, the coaster fell for several metres before plummeting hundreds of feet down the rocky valley.
Locals and rescue crews hurried to the site, removing remains and aiding the injured, who were sent to a neighboring army hospital and medical center for treatment.

A video of the event has appeared online, capturing the car slipping on the snow-covered road before losing control.

On Saturday, a school vehicle slid down a gully in Abbottabad’s Tarnawai district, killing two pupils and injuring eleven others.

The accident happened under the jurisdiction of the Mangal police station. According to rescue personnel, the rough terrain slowed emergency response attempts.
