The US is awarding 1,000 “Gold Card” visas every day under a contentious program introduced by President Donald Trump, which provides a straight path to citizenship for people prepared to pay $5 million. The program, launched in February, is intended to replace the current EB-5 investment visa program.

Speaking on the All-In Podcast, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick claimed that there are 37 million prospective customers globally, with the government aiming to sell one million of these visas. “There are 37 million people worldwide who can afford the card…” “The president believes we can sell a million,” Lutnick explained. He also mentioned that billionaire investor John Paulson helped design the endeavor, and Elon Musk is apparently involved in constructing its software infrastructure.

While the scheme promises to generate enormous cash for the United States, it has created criticism. Critics believe that it creates a two-tiered system that favors rich persons while the government continues to target illegal immigrants.

Despite worries about its execution, Trump has stated that the Gold Card visa program will not require legislative approval, making it a vital component of his overall immigration policy.
