The Federal Ministry of Finance has issued a report to the Federal Cabinet recommending a special stipend for officers and youngsters in the armed services of 15% of their basic pay.
The ministry had requested Prime Minister Imran Khan’s approval for the special stipend, but the premier told it to discuss it with the Cabinet.
According to ministry sources, owing to a delay in the Pay and Pension Commission’s interim report, public officials were awarded a 10% pay raise plus a 25% special allowance, for a total of a 35 percent raise.
A summary has been given to the Cabinet, based on the Salary and Pension Commission’s proposal, recommending a 10% pay rise, as promised in the budget for 2021-22, as well as a 15% special allowance.
The overall wage rise for armed forces members will be 25% if the cabinet accepts the plan.
According to Ministry of Finance sources, a 15% special allowance was suggested to bridge the gap in the compensation structure caused by the armed services personnel’ salaries not increasing in the past two years.
A further Rs38 billion will be necessary if the cabinet accepts the 15% hike.
