ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – On Wednesday, nine Chinese nationals and three Pakistanis were killed after a bus transporting them plummeted down a ravine owing to a mechanical failure that resulted in gas leaking and a blast.

According to preliminary reports, Chinese employees in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and their Pakistani colleagues were on their way to the site of the current project, according to the Foreign Office.

“For coordination and facilitation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in close touch with the Chinese Embassy,” the FO stated, adding that local authorities were offering all necessary help to the injured.

The Chinese and Pakistani workers’ families received condolences from the Foreign Office.

“The Pakistani government and people express their heartfelt condolences to the families of the Chinese and Pakistani workers who perished in the incident. We also wish the injured a speedy recovery,” it said.
