ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi slammed India’s hostile attitude and plots against the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) and urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) to take note of India’s actions.

“All Kashmiri players, whether from Azad Kashmir or Indian-occupied Kashmir, should be encouraged to succeed,” Qureshi said at a press conference at Parliament House.

“Cricket is a popular sport in Kashmir. They are awaiting the start of the KPL. India should reconsider its position, since it will serve no purpose other than to bring the country into shame.”

Shah Mahmood Qureshi urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold the same cricket tournament in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK).

He inquired, “Who stopped you from doing so?” He also urged India not to politicise sports, stating that hosting the Kashmir Premier League is a common occurrence.
Many international players want to play in the KPL, but they are being intimidated for doing so, according to the foreign ministry.

The foreign minister stated that the KPL event must be broadcast on Srinagar television screens as well.

He questioned the fear of the Kashmir Premier League, pointing out that anybody may watch a cricket match if it is held in Sharjah.
