QUETTA: An explosion hit Quetta on Sunday evening, killing two police officers and injuring 21 others, according to authorities.

The explosion occurred on Zarghoon Road, near the city’s University Chowk, according to police, who added that the explosives were put on a motorcycle. The blast utilised four kilogrammes of explosives, according to the bomb disposal unit.

Two police officers were killed when an explosion occurred near a police vehicle. Meanwhile, twelve other officers were injured.

The injured have been sent to the city’s Civil Hospital, according to Deputy Inspector General Quetta Azhar Ikram, who also stated that the explosion damaged the windows of neighbouring buildings.

According to the first inquiry, the bomb was carried out using a timed device, according to DIG Quetta.

“The police officers were on duty when the explosion occurred, and two of them were martyred,” he added. “In the meanwhile, the injured are being treated in a top-notch hospital, but three of them are in serious condition.”

The police had previously received a threat connected to an assault, according to DIG Quetta, who added that the troops are on high alert.
