KABUL : US soldiers opened fire on the airport in Kabul on Monday to keep hundreds of people from fleeing onto the tarmac.
A US official told Reuters over the phone, “The crowd was out of control.” “The shooting was merely carried out to calm things down.”
At the airport, US forces are in command, assisting with the evacuation of embassy employees and other civilians.
