Former fast bowler and cricket pundit Sikandar Bakht believes the selection committee made the right move by replacing Sarfaraz Ahmed with a younger player.
Bakht remarked that while the manner in which Sarfaraz Ahmed was dismissed from leadership was incorrect, replacing him with a younger player was a smart option.
The inclusion of teenage wicket-keeper Muhammad Haris in the squad for the series against New Zealand, according to Bakht, is a positive step.
In September, New Zealand will embark on a tour of Pakistan.
The Pakistani ODI squad for the three-match series was released the day before, with former skipper Sarfraz Ahmed being left out.
Sohaib Maqsood has also been left out of the ODI squad, while Iftikhar Ahmed and Khushdil Shah have been re-inducted.
The tour of Pakistan by New Zealand will begin on September 17.
The Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi will host the ODIs on September 17, 19, and 21, while the historic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host five T20Is from September 25 to October 3.
