ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday that Naya Pakistan is not the result of a single push of a button, but rather the result of a long battle in which systemic reforms take time.

He stated that people do not pay taxes but demand services while speaking at the opening ceremony of the Pakistan Property, Housing and Construction Expo in Islamabad on Friday. “Our objective is to enhance the living conditions of the poor,” he added, adding that Pakistan has never had a policy for the weaker members of society.

“We would do everything possible to support the housing sector,” the prime minister stated, adding that “the impoverished people of Pakistan need houses.”

He said that no one had ever given a facility for the poor to build houses, but that today banks will grant loans to the needy to do so.

Imran Khan emphasised his strong commitment to international collaboration aimed at poverty alleviation, sustainable growth, and addressing climate change during a virtual event on the 20th Anniversary of Juncao Assistance and Sustainable Development Cooperation held in Beijing earlier today.

COVID-19, he claimed, had caused an economic crisis and halted world growth. For the first time in over 20 years, severe poverty increased last year.

Food security and improved nutrition, according to the prime minister, have become an even larger problem for developing countries. During the epidemic, sustainable methods of attaining economic recovery, growth, and development are important.

“Juncao technology is one of the methods that small-scale farmers may use to produce low-cost, commercial-scale mushroom production,” he explained.

PM Imran further stated that China serves as a role model for emerging countries in the fight against poverty. Over the previous four decades, he claims, the country’s remarkable growth has lifted 800 million people out of poverty. He also praised China’s position as a global leader on climate change.

President Xi’s goal of an affluent, clean, and beautiful planet, as well as his initiative to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, were praised by him.

“Poverty alleviation and combating climate change are his government’s top priorities,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, adding that “we have launched a high-ranking social safety net programme called Ehsaas with the goal of uplifting marginalised people, eradicating poverty, and assisting vulnerable households.”

Imran Khan said that our Ehsaas Emergency Cash programme protected the most disadvantaged members of society from the COVID-19 pandemic’s economic impacts.

He stated that Pakistan, as one of the most susceptible countries to climate change, strongly supports international efforts to tackle the problem.

He stated that we are on our way to become a Clean and Green Pakistan. As part of our ten billion tree initiative, which is one of the most ambitious endeavours to extend and restore forests, we have already planted a billion trees.
