After the Taliban seized over Kabul on August 15, Prime Minister Imran Khan praised the Interior Ministry for its assistance in evacuating thousands of Afghans and foreigners from the city.

Statement from Prime Minister’s Office: The prime minister’s meeting with Federal Minister for Interior Sheikh Rasheed in Islamabad brought to this development.

According to the statement, the federal minister briefed the prime minister on Islamabad’s security situation, Rescue 1122 services, and the facilitation cell.

Both leaders also discussed border management, according to the statement, which came three days after Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed satisfaction with the effectiveness of the complete border control regime.

Speaking to the media earlier in the day, US Senator Chris Van Hollen stated that Pakistan’s participation in the present Afghan crisis is critical.

The Democrat senator emphasised the need of communication between Washington, DC and Islamabad.

On September 10, Pakistan asked the international community to recognise the new reality in Afghanistan and work with it to bring peace and security to the area.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, speaking to the media in Islamabad with his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Albares, stated that isolating Afghanistan will have significant implications.

According to Pakistan’s senior diplomat, the strategy of fear, pressure, and coercion has failed, and we must embrace a new constructive approach toward Afghanistan.
