On Saturday, it was revealed that many members of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Al Qaeda operatives, and Indian and Afghan nationals were all in possession of Pakistani identification cards.

Senator Faisal Sabzwari of Pakistan’s Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) submitted a report on the subject to the Senate Standing Committee on Interior.

According to the study, 50 to 60 percent of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) personnel in Karachi are corrupt.

According to the report, the arrested Afghan citizens possessed NADRA Karachi ID cards.

Furthermore, Al Qaeda member Abdullah Baloch got ID cards from NADRA many times.

It goes on to say that Imran Ali, an Indian citizen implicated in the Safoora Goth case, held a Pakistani identification card as well.

The standing committee recommended punishment against individuals engaged in the issue of illicit and unauthorised identity cards in light of the report.

The NADRA chairman stated on this occasion that the subject is being investigated, and that 12 NADRA personnel have been arrested and 29 have been suspended.
