ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (APP) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi underlined the need of true inter-civilizational dialogue and religious peace on Wednesday in order to save billions of people from violence, poverty, sickness, and hunger.
Speaking at a conference, the foreign minister stated that promoting interfaith unity has taken on unprecedented importance in today’s fractured world marked by extremism, racist ideas, wars, and festering disagreements.
Pakistan, according to the foreign minister, is dedicated to making every effort to foster harmony and understanding among diverse religions, cultures, and civilizations.
He stated that the worldwide Covid-19 outbreak was a wake-up call for everybody, leading to the insight that avoiding disputes and intolerance while fostering understanding and collaboration holds the key to humanity’s existence.
He stated that Pakistan was in the forefront of efforts to improve awareness of Muslims’ great reverence for their Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).
He emphasised that the West must neither promote or condone the misuse of free expression in order to hurt the feelings of over two billion Muslims.
He stated that Islam categorically condemns conceptions of racial superiority as well as caste and creed prejudice.
Despite false misinformation, he continued, the world is coming to see that Islam is a religion of peace that does not condone, encourage, or support terrorism or violent extremism.
