ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – On Thursday, Defense Minister Pervaiz Khattak blasted Prime Minister Imran Khan during the country’s worst-ever gas crisis.
According to sources, at the parliamentary party meeting presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Minister for Energy Hamad Azhar and Defense Minister Pervez Khattak exchanged harsh words about gas.
After a heated argument, the defence minister left the meeting.
During the parliamentary party meeting, Pervez Khattak also criticised Prime Minister Imran Khan.
“We have made you Prime Minister,” he added. He added that there is a gas restriction in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and that we are punished despite producing gas and power.
“If this is your mindset, we won’t be able to vote,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has stated that “if you are not content with me, I would give over the administration to someone else.”
Speaking to the media following the meeting, the defence minister stated that he did not leave the meeting in rage, but rather to smoke.
On the occasion, Minister of Energy Hammad Azhar stated that the participants in the meeting questioned him about gas, and he was able to satisfy the parliamentary party members.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan warned the gathering that the country’s gas supplies were depleting and that local demand would have to be supplied by importing gas.
According to reports, the MQM debated tax revisions in the mini-budget and urged that essential needs not be charged, to which the prime minister responded that the government is mindful of the people’s struggle and will not impose further taxes.
According to sources, during the meeting, PTI MNA Noor Alam questioned if the SBP’s autonomy would have an impact on state institutions.
