KARACHI: Robbers were able to uproot an ATM in Karachi, but a timely call to police prevented their effort.

According to sources, the unusual heist attempt occurred at Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 3 near Disco Bakery, where a group of criminals managed to uproot the ATM and were putting it on a little truck when the police team arrived.

When the criminals saw the cops, they left the area, abandoning the vehicle with the ATM machine. According to the police, they got a complaint from a civilian in Madadgar 15 reporting that a few criminals were lifting an Automated Teller Machine.

The police party arrived and stopped the bid after acting on the information. The police have initiated a hunt for the thieves.

Separately, police claimed a guy was apprehended red-handed attempting to break into an automated teller machine of a private bank in Karachi’s upscale Defence Housing Authority (DHA) neighbourhood.

Munawar Hussain, the suspected robber, was claimed to have entered an ATM kiosk of a private bank in the Murtaza Commercial area to take cash.
