Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Umar Amin Gandapur defeated Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) opponent Muhammad Kafeel Nizami by over 20,000 votes in the Dera Ismail Khan mayoral election.

According to unofficial statistics, Umar Amin Gandapur received 63,753 votes, whereas Muhammad Kafeel Nizami of the JUI received just 38,891 votes. Faisal Karim Kundi of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) finished third with 32,788 votes.

Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms, and Special Initiatives, congratulated Ali Amin Gandapur and PTI workers on beating JUI-F in its home constituency earlier in general elections and now in local government elections in a post on Twitter.

He stated that a guy who is unable to safeguard his home constituency wishes to destabilise the administration.

Meanwhile, re-elections for City Mayor, Tehsil Chairman, Neighborhood and Village Council seats were held in thirteen districts for local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where polling had been halted during the first phase of local body elections due to a brawl and the deaths of candidates.

Charsadda, Nowshera, Khyber, Mohmand, Mardan, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Buner, Bajaur, and Peshawar are among the 13 districts.
