MOSCOW, Russian Federation – Prime Minister Imran Khan lay a floral wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a World Military II war memorial dedicated to Soviet soldiers lost in action.
The prime minister paid his homage to the troops at the Kremlin Wall memorial after arriving in the Russian capital on Wednesday.
The Pakistani and Russian national anthems were performed at the ceremony, and the prime minister observed a moment of silence in honour of the deceased soldiers.
Prime Leader Imran Khan’s visit to Moscow is the first by a Pakistani prime minister in two decades. He is accompanied by a high-level entourage, which includes members of his cabinet.
According to a statement from the Foreign Office, the prime minister will also meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the whole range of bilateral ties, including energy cooperation.
“They will also have a wide-ranging exchange of ideas on significant regional and international topics, such as Islamophobia and the situation in Afghanistan,” according to the statement.
During the tour, the premier is accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Energy Minister Hammad Azhar, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Asad Umar, Abdul Razak Dawood, Moeed Yousuf, and others.
