The Supreme Court of Pakistan has deferred hearings on a Presidential Reference for the interpretation of Article 63(A) of the Pakistan Constitution on disqualification of elected MPs and its applicability to dissident legislators of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf until Monday (PTI).
During the hearing, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umer Ataa Bandial cited the Holy Quran and stated that people who break trust face harsh punishment. The CJP went on to say that someone who betrays confidence is called dishonest. Does a member have to sign a declaration agreeing to follow the party’s rules?, the CJP added.
Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail inquired if any PTI members have expressed dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
