ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Thousands of supporters of the governing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), dressed in red and green, gathered at Parade Ground in Islamabad on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s call for the historic Amr Bil Maroof (enjoy the good) rally.

The party’s charged workers arrived in Islamabad in caravans, singing chants in support of their party and holding banners and flags to express their allegiance.

“Today is a struggle for Pakistan, not for the PTI; it is a war for our nation’s future,” Prime Minister Imran Khan said in a statement sent out hours before the rally.

The premier advised those planning to attend the event to leave early since the roads would be congested. He expressed concern that the attendees would not arrive on time.

“Today, we are out to make Pakistani history,” Prime Minister Imran Khan said.

Opposition groups filed a no-confidence motion against Imran Khan on March 8, following the PPP’s protracted march in Islamabad. Because several PTI legislators have come out openly against Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Opposition is certain that its resolution will be passed.
