A 7.6-magnitude earthquake jolted the Pacific island country of Tonga in the early hours of Thursday but there were no reports of casualties or damage.
The quake happened at 1602 GMT, around 100 kilometres (60 miles) off the isolated volcanic island of Niuatoputapu in Tonga, at a depth of 210 km, according to the US Geological Survey.
It said that there was no tsunami risk.
