The 2023 Champions League final will be hosted in Istanbul, UEFA announced on Friday, dismissing suggestions that the tournament would be moved due to political upheaval.

“UEFA would like to clarify its position on the 2023 Champions League final,” the organisation stated in a statement. “The 2023 UEFA Champions League final will take place in Istanbul on June 10, 2023, as planned.”

“UEFA has not had any discussions to the contrary with any political institutions, governments, or national football associations.”
Earlier on Friday, media sources stated that the game may be shifted to Lisbon due to probable turmoil in Turkey’s capital following the presidential election on May 14.
