One of the most remarkable pictures from “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is a ponytail that is sticking straight up in the air, which is the only other indication that anything is awry except the inverted skyline.

Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) have recently reconnected in the “Into the Spider-Verse” sequel. They swing joyously through the skyscrapers of New York before perching on the ledge of a clocktower. Our vision is the same as theirs: a sparkling upside-down metropolis in the distance.
