A Pentagon spokeswoman said on Tuesday that the organisation had overestimated the money for the ammunition, missiles, and other equipment it delivered to Ukraine by $6.2 billion as a result of an accounting error, which is more than double the amount previously acknowledged.
As a result of placing a higher-than-justified value on US weapons delivered to Ukraine, the accounting error’s worth was increased from the $3 billion that Reuters first revealed in May.
According to Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh, additional cash was discovered after officials conducted in-depth investigation and established procedures for valuing equipment in accordance with Financial Management Regulation and Department of Defence policy.
