Sampdoria, an Italian Serie B team, announced on Tuesday that former AC Milan and Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo has been named the club’s new coach on a two-year contract.

In 2020–21, Pirlo, who had previously coached Juventus’ under–23 squad and had won the World Cup with Italy as a player in 2006, coached the club for one year.

Pirlo was fired by Juventus in May 2021 after guiding them to Coppa Italia and Supercoppa victories but failing to advance them higher than fourth in Serie A.
In June 2022, he was chosen to lead Fatih Karagumruk SK, the top team in Turkey.
