France captain and defender Wendie Renard believes her team “can achieve something great” this time at the Women’s World Cup after being ineffective in previous events.

France will compete in their fifth Women’s World Cup this month, however they have been eliminated in the quarterfinals in the previous two tournaments, and their best finish was fourth in 2011.

“We didn’t make it past the quarter-finals because we weren’t quite effective enough at critical moments,” Renard, 32, explained in an interview with FIFA.
