The defence ministry showed Valery Gerasimov, Russia’s chief of general staff, listening to a report regarding Ukrainian missile launches, his first public appearance since the failed June 24 mutiny.
According to the military ministry, the video shows Gerasimov at a meeting.
Sitting on a white leather armchair in a military command chamber, speaking to top generals and issuing commands, notably to the chief of military intelligence (GRU).
His present title, head of the general staff of Russia’s armed forces and commander of the joint group of forces in Ukraine, was used by the defence ministry.
