According to a top WFP official, the globe is entering a “humanitarian doom loop” because Russia has not provided the Rome-based UN agency’s globe Food Programme (WFP) with free grain.

WFP Deputy Executive Director Carl Skau described the Black Sea Grain Initiative’s demise when Russia stopped its participation as “regrettable, to say the least” during a press conference in New York.

In support of the campaign, WFP transported more than 725,000 tons of grain to some of the most hard-hit regions of the world, such as Yemen, the Horn of Africa, and Afghanistan.
