(Reuters) TOKYO – Yuzuru Hanyu, a gold-medal winning figure skater from Japan at the Olympics, revealed his engagement and received congratulations from his following; nevertheless, some of them appeared upset that the attractive 28-year-old would no longer be available for dating.

When revealing his new married status on X, the social media messaging service that replaced Twitter, Hanyu did not identify his spouse.

“I want to thank everyone for their unwavering support,” This time, I’ve made the decision to be married,” he wrote in the article.

As someone who has been involved in skating for 24 years, he continued, “I’ve thought about many things over the past few years, especially the rapidly changing world, including COVID-19 and natural disasters.”
