AFP – LOS ANGELES According to industry estimates released on Sunday, Warner Bros.’ blockbuster “Barbie” maintained its dominance over North American box office for a fourth week. Director Greta Gerwig has continued to shatter box office records.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gerwig, who with “Barbie” had already became the first solo woman director to earn more than $1 billion at the global box office, this week surpassed all other female directors in terms of domestic box office revenue.

The weekend’s earnings for “Barbie” were anticipated by industry analyst Exhibitor Relations to be $33.7 million, bringing its domestic total to $526 million.
