BULGARIA (Reuters) – According to a spokesman for Turkey’s ruling AK Party, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will shortly travel to Russia to discuss the failed UN agreement that had permitted the sale of Ukrainian grain via the Black Sea.
The pact, mediated by the UN and Turkey, lasted a year but was terminated last month after Moscow withdrew. In order to resume the arrangement, under which Odesa’s seaports exported tens of millions of tons of grain, Ankara is attempting to persuade Russia.
Russian forces have used volleys of missiles and kamikaze drones to attack Ukrainian ports since the grain export agreement fell through.
