ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Fawad Chaudhry, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, apologised to the ECP on Tuesday for the criticism he received about the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in future elections.
According to the information, ECP held a hearing on the federal minister’s show cause notice.
During the hearing, Fawad Chaudhry begged that the panel accept his apologies and put the matter to rest. He continued, “I’m also a lawyer, and I don’t mistreat people.”
The ECP has now ordered the minister to submit a formal apology.
Fawad Chaudhry had chastised the electoral commission for citing concerns about electronic voting machines, which the government intends to implement in the upcoming general election.
Azam Swati has also made significant charges of bribery during elections against the ECP and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja.
