ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry announced on Friday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to dissolve its organisational structure after suffering a massive defeat in the first phase of the recently held local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The information minister stated at a news conference in Islamabad following a meeting of party spokespersons chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan that the PTI has agreed to create a new constitutional committee to design a plan for the second phase of the local bodies election in KP.
According to Fawad, the committee includes Pervez Khattak, Mahmood Khan and Murad Saeed, Asad Qaiser, Ali Amin Gandapur from KP; Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Hammad Azhar, Fawad Chaudhry, Chaudhary Mohammad Sarwar, Saifullah Niazi, Amir Kayani, Usman Buzdar from Punjab; Mir Khan Muhammad Jamali and Qasim Suri
Concerning the election results, the minister stated that he had received allegations that the tickets for the recently held LG votes in the province were dispersed among party members’ families.
“PM Imran Khan is very dissatisfied since party tickets were awarded on the basis of nepotism as opposed to the principles of justice and merit,” Fawad said, adding that in view of the scenario, the party has chosen to disband its organisational structure across Pakistan.

Fawad went on to say that the new PTI committee will have senior leadership on board and that the party will now award election tickets through a new system.
Fawad expressed confidence in his party, claiming that the PTI is the largest and only party in KP.
“If the PTI fails, Pakistan’s politics would fail as well,” Fawad remarked.
