Karachi Kings have been eliminated from contention for a position in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 7 play-offs after losing their seventh consecutive match of the season to Islamabad United on Monday night at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Following a valiant fightback by Imad Wasim and Qasim Akram (108-run sixth-wicket stand), the 2020 champions needed only eight runs (191 target) off the last over thrown by bowler Waqas Maqsood.

Despite giving a boundary off the second ball, Waqas held his cool to remove Imad and Jordan Thompson before running out Chris Jordan off the penultimate ball as Kings lost by one run, finishing at 190 for eight.

The final score was Islamabad United 191 for 7, 20 overs (Shadab Khan 34, Faheem Ashraf 29 not out, Asif Ali 28; Imad Wasim 2-30)

Karachi Kings score 190 for 8 in 20 overs (Imad Wasim 55, Qasim Akram 51 not out; Waqas Maqsood 3-34, Asif Ali 2-27)
