RAWALPINDI — Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Genral Qamar Javed Bajwa, has informed the United States that Pakistan is dedicated to making all possible efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan, and that the country supports a “all-inclusive Afghan government.”

According to a statement released by the Inter Services Public Relations, the army commander mentioned this when meeting with US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman on Friday (ISPR).

It was also mentioned that during the meeting, topics of mutual interest, the regional security situation, and coordination on humanitarian aid in Afghanistan were discussed.

COAS Bajwa also emphasised the need of maintaining “meaningful bilateral interaction” for the two nations’ long-term multi-domain cooperation.

The visiting dignitary praised Pakistan’s contribution to the Afghan situation, particularly its help in the successful evacuation operations, and promised to continue working with Pakistan for regional peace.

It’s worth noting that the US State Department’s No. 2 is now in Islamabad for a two-day official visit. Her visit comes after Foreign Minister Qureshi met with US Secretary of State Blinken on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 23, 2021.
