The number of arrests in the overnight disturbances in France has risen to 719, according to the government

PARIS: The number of arrests made during a sixth night of rioting in France following a teenager’s death by police has increased to 719, the interior ministry reported on Sunday.

The ministry had earlier reported a provisional total of 486 arrests, claiming that there had been less violence than the previous night, when some 1,300 individuals had been detained.

Rioters drove into the mayor’s house.
