On Tuesday, a sessions court in Islamabad sentenced Zahir Jaffer’s parents and two other suspects to 14 days in prison for their suspected role in the murder of Noor Mukadam, the daughter of a former Pakistani ambassador.

Today, the accused were brought before Judicial Magistrate Shoaib Akhtar.

The police asked the judge for a 14-day judicial detention of the suspects at the start of the hearing. The court asked the plaintiffs whether they wanted to offer their arguments in the case after hearing their request.

The attorneys reacted by stating that if the judge orders the suspects to be held on remand, they will not submit their arguments.

The accused — Zakir Jaffer, Asmat Adamjee, Iftikhar, and Jameel — were ordered to be transferred to Adiala Jail after the court granted the remand.

However, before the hearing could be terminated, Zakir Jaffer’s lawyer, Raja Rizwan Abbasi, requested that he be permitted to speak with his clients.

The court granted the lawyer’s request, and the suspects were brought back into the courtroom, where the lawyer met with his clients.

Abbasi asked the court to release Zakir Jaffer and his wife from the case after meeting with his clients.

Judge Akhtar responded that the court had already issued orders for judicial remand and that the appeal could not be heard.

The lawyer then requested that the judge include his appeal in the written orders, which the judge granted.

The court then ordered that all four suspects be held in custody for 14 days and that the police present them at the next hearing on August 10.
