Brooklyn (APP) – Pakistan and Panama jointly sponsored a resolution that the UN General Assembly endorsed designating January 26 as the International Day of Clean Energy. The text, which was approved without a vote, reaffirmed the 193-member Assembly’s dedication to environmental protection.
In order to promote awareness of the sustainable use of energy resources and to strengthen collaboration and cooperation in support of the global energy transition, January 26 will serve as a forum for the adoption of policies and practices.
Markova Concepcion Jaramillo, a delegate from Panama, introduced the draft and stated that switching to clean and renewable energy sources was necessary to address the current environmental and socioeconomic issues and ensure human survival and well-being on the globe.
