LAHORE – After being gone for over five months, journalist Imran Riaz Khan was reunited with his family.
The Sialkot police department announced Khan’s safe rescue on the social networking site X early Monday. “Journalist/Anchor Mr Imran Riaz Khan has been recovered safely.” “He is now with his family,” the message says.
The television anchor was arrested in Sialkot a few days after the May 9 violent protests in numerous locations throughout the nation in response to the arrest of the PTI head in a corruption case.
On May 12, the journalist was freed from the district jail and afterwards left in a private car. On May 15, an official also notified the Lahore High Court (LHC) that the anchorperson had been released from jail after giving a written assurance.
He has been missing since his release from the district prison on May 12. at addition, a plea for his release was filed at the Lahore High Court (LHC).
Following multiple court orders requiring the journalist to appear in court, the IHC judge offered the Punjab police “one last chance” to recapture Riaz by September 26.
Ali Ashfaq, Imran Riaz Khan’s lawyer, also congratulated him on his release. “By God’s special blessing, grace, and mercy, I have again brought back my prince” .
