LAHORE – The Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) plan to hold elections in the last week of January next year has been challenged in the Lahore High Court.
On Wednesday, a local attorney filed a miscellaneous application in the Supreme Court.
The petitioner claims that the ECP is in violation of the constitution and judicial orders. According to the constitution, elections must be held within 90 days following the dissolution of the assemblies, according to the appeal.
The petitioner asked the court to order the ECP to organize elections in accordance with the constitution.
