ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) asked the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday to hold an in-camera hearing on the bail application of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman in the cipher case, citing concerns that an open court session might hurt Pakistan’s diplomatic ties with other countries.

The request was made by FIA Special Prosecutor Shah Khawar when the court reconvened following a brief recess.

Earlier, before the break, the court ordered to hear the FIA’s request for an in-camera hearing alongside the PTI chief’s bail appeal. “Let’s hear the application for in-camera proceedings along with the main application for bail,” the court said as it heard the petition.

The IHC CJ asked if the bail plea may be considered in secret when the court reconvened after the recess. Regarding this, Khawar said that a trial couldn’t be made public due to the Official Secrets Act. He said that they will enter a comparable plea at the trial court.
