LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (PHC) has been petitioned to rule against postponing the nation’s general elections for more than 90 days.
The president, the Pakistani Election Commission, the federal government, and other parties were designated parties by the Judicial Activism Panel, which filed the petition.
According to the petitioner, the constitution mandates that general elections take place 90 days following the dissolution of legislatures. After the dissolution of the assembly in August, there is not much time left, but the petitioner said that the Election Commission has not taken any preparations to fulfill its constitutional obligation.
The suit asks the High Court to require the Election Commission to organize elections within ninety days. The petitioner also asked the court to mandate that the Pakistani president reveal the date of the elections.
