ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf legal team member cannot be arrested by the Islamabad police without the consent of the court, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) ruled on Tuesday.
Sher Afzal Marwat, a member of the PTI legal team, presented the plea, and he was joined in court by his attorney Qazi Adil. The court requested a report from the police and others about cases filed against Marwat throughout the hearings. The court then requested information from the relevant agencies on whether Marwat’s name appeared on the Exit Control List (ECL).
The hearing was later postponed till Friday with a directive from Justice Arbab Tahir not to arrest Marwat without first getting court approval.
