LAHORE – The Lahore High Court on Tuesday postponed the hearing of arguments made in opposition to the decision to refuse Dr. Yasmin Rashid, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), physical remand.
The appeals against the decision to refuse Dr. Rashid’s physical remand in connection with the May 9 rioting and arson proceedings have to be heard by a two-member LHC panel presided over by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi.
The court postponed the plea hearing without holding a hearing because one of the judges was on leave. The two-member bench’s cause list was withdrawn.
PTI leaders Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mehmoodur Rasheed, and Ejaz Chaudhary were remanded to custody in the May 9 proceedings before the Lahore anti-terrorism court on Saturday.
The court has already ordered Dr Yasmin Rashid and others to be held in custody until September 5, while Ejaz Chaudhary and Mehmoodur Rasheed are being held physically. As a result, the three leaders were re-incarcerated until September 5.
