Since Pakistan is about to sign a revised agreement on the project with China under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), civil work on the Main Line-1 (ML-1) project is likely to start in the upcoming fiscal year.

The updated plan calls for spending $6.7 billion on the three-phased Main Line-1 (ML-1) project.

According to sources, phase one construction will cost $2.7 billion, phase two $2.6 billion, and phase three $1.4 billion.
