RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The PTI founder and his close friend Shah Mehmood Qureshi were convicted to ten years in prison in the cipher case, as the special court constituted under the Official Secrets Act revealed its decision in the closely watched incident.
The brief verbal decision was given shortly after recording the statements of the two accused under Section 342 at the hearing today (Tuesday), as the court heard the case quickly despite the defence’s stalling tactics.
Earlier, questionnaires were prepared to record their statements when the court continued hearing the cipher case, and they were requested to sign the forms, a legal necessity that they refused to comply with.
However, the PTI founder did appear to record the statement, since he spent more than an hour to submit his version to the judge.
