ISLAMABAD — Sher Afzal Marwat, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has filed a challenge in the Islamabad High Court to Ishaq Dar’s appointment as Deputy Prime Minister.
Sher Afzal Marwat, through his lawyer Riaz Hanif Rahi, filed a lawsuit in the Islamabad High Court, claiming that Ishaq Dar was already serving as foreign minister.
He stated in the application that on April 28, with the agreement of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a notification for Ishaq Dar’s appointment as Deputy Prime Minister was issued.
He stated that the post of prime minister is a constitutional position, and there is no provision in the Constitution that authorizes the Cabinet Division to make a notification for the appointment of a deputy prime minister.
In his plea, Sher Afzal Marwat stated that a person who was unlawfully appointed could not receive state advantages, and he requested that the notice dated April 28, 2024 for the appointment of Ishaq Dar as Deputy Prime Minister be declared null and invalid.
The court has been asked to reward the petitioner for bringing this crucial case before it.
The petition has been signed by the federal government, the secretary of the Cabinet Division, the Prime Minister, and Ishaq Dar.
