ISLAMABAD — On Friday, the National Assembly enacted an amendment to the Elections Act of 2017 (The Elections Amendment Bill, 2024).
The bill was introduced by Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs.
Briefing the MPs, he stated that the modification was intended to accelerate up the resolution of petitions related to elections for the National Assembly, Senate, provincial legislatures, and local governments.
Rana Aradat Sharif, the governing PML-N MNA, delivered the committee’s report on the bill in the House, following which Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar sought to suspend the appropriate regulations so that the bill may be considered.
