BUDAPEST/BRUSSELS (Reuters) – France’s National Rally (RN) will lead the European Parliament’s third-largest alliance, Patriots for Europe, formed by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, the group stated on Monday.
Marine Le Pen’s far-right RN joined the coalition in the European Parliament on Monday, a day after finishing third in the French National Assembly elections.
Austria’s far-right Freedom Party, Fidesz, and the populist Czech ANO party led by Andrej Babis have previously agreed to join forces, claiming the battle against illegal immigration and the transfer of additional authorities from Brussels back to member states as the new alliance’s objectives.
