ISLAMABAD – The Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice has agreed to increase the number of Supreme Court judges.

However, the committee requested information about instances that were ongoing in the higher courts.

The chairman of the committee stated that the number of Supreme Court judges will be determined after reviewing the information provided by the Ministry of Law and Justice.

The law minister stated that the registrar’s office would provide details on the instances.

Committee Chairman Farooq H Naik stated that while the number of cases in the Supreme Court grew, the number of judges remained same (17).
