July 27, Paris (Reuters) – On Saturday, Rafa Nadal and his young partner Carlos Alcaraz made their way back to their favorite training area as Spain’s new dream combo made their first move toward Olympic gold.

A boisterous Court Philippe Chatrier crowd cheered on the 38-year-old Roland Garros king and the 21-year-old men’s tennis prince as they defeated the sixth-seeded Argentine duo of Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni 7-6(4) 6-4.

On the rain-soaked first day of the Olympics tennis competition, Alcaraz had already played and won the singles match against Hady Habib of Lebanon, 6-3 6-1. Only a few matches were finished.
