ISLAMABAD: By a majority vote on Tuesday, the National Assembly approved the Election Act Amendment Bill in spite of opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests.
The Election Act Amendment Bill was tabled by Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNAs Bilal Azhar Kayani and Zeb Jaffar as the session got underway, with Speaker Ayaz Sadiq presiding. The opposition members began to demonstrate and shout slogans while seated.
They gathered in front of the speaker’s dais, tore up copies of the law, yelled, “attack on judiciary and democracy rejected,” and denounced the administration.
